a) Tricky. Depends on how long I have been at the school, how well I know the kids, what was actually being transmitted, etc. Could range from telling the kids not to do it again to informing the principal.

b) Notify the parents.

I think I agree with Mississippi Teacher Corps's comment, but I'm also not sure how such a thing would come to my attention. I don't know what would have to happen for me to inspect the contents of a student cell phone. Reports from students that nude photographs are on them would not encourage me, and I think most reports of harassment might be dealt with short of such inspection, too.

I did once have a student rather randomly say to me, "I bet you have naked white girls on your phone -- show 'em to me and I'll show you some naked black girls on mine." I made him write lines for the outburst and didn't examine his phone to determine whether he was bluffing.
