I teach seventh grade math in Jackson, MS. It is an urban school district. There are 8 high schools, 10 middle schools, and around 20 elementary schools. The district serves over 31,000 students, making it the biggest (although not for long) district in Mississippi, and has over 4,000 employees.
I teach at one of the middle schools in Jackson. About 80-90% of the students are on free or reduced lunch, and about 60-70% come from single parent families. My school has 1,200 students (making it the biggest middle school in the district), about 40-50 teachers, 4 administrators, 1 security officer, and about 10-15 other support staff (including custodians, office staff, and counselors).
The seventh grade has about 350 students, 4 math and 4 language arts teachers, and 2 social studies and 2 science teachers. I teach on a block schedule (district-wide), which means four classes a day for 95 minutes a piece (I have one free block that is not always free), but math is double-blocked so I see my kids everyday and they see me everyday - for 95 minutes.
